Youths go to brothels out of curiosity, but not to use their services, says research ONE in 10 young people under the age of 25 has been to a brothel with friends of both sexes 'to have a drink and see what is going on', according to a survey by Madrid city council. Over six in 10 women and men alike believe prostitution should be regulated, legalised and tightly controlled, while only 14 per cent of men and 22 per cent of women β 19 per cent of the total β believe it should be abolished. Four in 10 consider prostitution 'repulsive', but six in 10 β with almost an equal split between men and women in both cases β believe it is a 'mere form of exercising sexual freedom'.
Nearly 80 per cent said their perception of prostitution was based upon what they had seen on the street, rather than television documentaries, the internet or the news.
